Akshay Kumar-Huma Qureshi take Lucknow by storm!

The shooting of the sequel to Jolly LLB (2013) the laugh riot directed by Subhash Kapoor and set in Meerut has well and truly started in Lucknow, if the present picture posted by Akshay Kumar in his twitter post is anything to go by. The film stars Akshay and Huma Qureshi, and it’s the first time the duo is paired together for silver screen. The original was inspired by the Sanjeev Nanda hit-and-run case of 1999 and we are hoping that the sequel too will have some real life connections as well. Besides Lucknow, the film is purported to be shot in Varanasi and Kashmir as well. We’re sure looking forward to seeing Akshay in his lawyer avatar soon.

25 years of Saajan!

It was the first time Madhuri Dixit hot paired with Salman Khan and their chemistry was to die for. We still get riveted every time we catch a glimpse of them in reruns.

It was a love triangle between Madhuri Salman and Sanjay Dutt and the media started linking Dutt and Madhuri after the film’s release.

Deepika Padukone is getting paid more than Ranveer Singh!

Seldom it’s heard that actresses are paid more than the actors in Bollywood. But looks like times are changing for our leading ladies. According to a leading daily, Deepika Padukone is being paid more than Ranveer Singh for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati. As reported earlier, Deepika is being paid 11 crores for the magnum opus which makes her the highest paid actress in B-town. Now we hear that Ranveer Singh is being paid something between 7 to 8 crores for the film.

Deepika Padukone also made it to the Forbes list of the highest paid actors last week. This woman is taking things by storm.

First Look: 31 October

This post was originally published on this site

31st October, a film based on the anti-Sikh riots after the 1984 assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, is ready for release after the hassles with the censor board. The film is touted as revealing the truth behind the anti-Sikh riots.

The 1984 riots created a unilateral impression in India about the riots that followed the assassination of Indira Gandhi by her two Sikh bodyguards, but the film’s director Harry Sachdeva says 31st October will bring other aspects of the riots before the viewers.

Asked why he decided to make a film on this controversial subject, Sachdeva told IANS: “We all have been hearing about the 1984 riots. The aim behind making this film is to bring out the truth of riots. Till now no film has been made on this subject. So, I am glad that I will present this kind of a film to the audience for the first time.”

31st October features Soha Ali Khan and Vir Das in the lead. “I really loved Soha’s work in Rang De Basanti and that’s the main reason why she is a part of our film. When Soha read the story of the film, she got emotional and quickly said yes,” Prakash said.

Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif are the most professional actors, says Anurag Basu

Bollywood’s most loved couple Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif have made fans wait with bated breath for their next outing together. They will be seen in Anurag Basu’s comedy drama Jagga Jasoos. Despite their break-up, the two gave their professional commitments priority and shot the film together. Though there were reports that the actors didn’t get along and created quite a ruckus on the set, director Anurag Basu has a different to tell. “ Infact, Ranbir and Katrina are the most professional actors I have seen ever. They made sure their break-up did not affect the shoot. The actors became more professional, so that the work doesn’t get affected. They were more concerned that their personal equation or relationship doesn’t become a hurdle for the film,” Anurag told in an interview. He also clarified the reports about that they are not sharing vanity van. “But they were never sharing vans. “I was surprised… They acted as if nothing is wrong and they are absolutely fine. I was concerned with what was being captured on camera and not with what happened between them.” He also said, “But yes, things were not normal after pack-up. set ka maahol thoda thanda ho jata tha. But it didn’t affect the shoot.”

Nawazuddin Siddiqui wants to romance like Emraan Hashmi

Apart from great acting chops and some serious performing talent, Nawazuddin also has a great sense of humour.  And for a change we will be seeing him opposite a hot leading lady (Amy Jackson) in Freaky Ali. So when a scribe asked Nawaz if he’d be seen romancing like Emraan Hashmi, now that he has a heroine opposite him, he said, “I’m jealous of Emraan. Woh bahut kamaal ka kaam karte hain. Unki romance ke scenes ko touch nahi kar sakta.” He further joked, “I wish mujhe bhi aisa chance mil jaye.” Romance or no romance, we like the actor that is Nawazuddin to the hilt.

Salman Khan will take off to Dubai tonight

Salman Khan is just the brother anyone would wish for. Totally loving and giving in every possible way, standing by his family no matter what. He’s the one who has always encouraged and supported his siblings in every aspect of their life. And now, despite his packed schedule he’s been promoting brother Sohail’s directorial, Freaky Ali starring Nawazuddin, Amy Jackson and Arbaaz Khan. Last time he was seen at the trailer launch of Freaky Ali with the team. Tonight, Salman will take off to Dubai with brothers Sohail, Arbaaz and the Freaky Ali team to support and promote the film in Dubai. It is believed that Salman also wanted to play a small part in the film but brother Sohail thought it was not suitable for a man of his stature to play such a minuscule role.

Five female characters that should scare you

Five female characters that should scare you

Be afraid, be very, very afraid. Because when women get down to killing, the madness gets surreal and crazy. Sonakshi Sinha’s Akira is just around the corner and it promises to be one of the rare Hindi movies where the girl gets back at the men. She fights back and she looks intimidating and scary, not the demure, fairer sex that clichés make her out to be. So on that note, we take a look at five female characters that scared the beejebers out of us at the movies. You don’t want to mess with these women. If you rub them the wrong way, you can kiss your happiness goodbye. Read on…

Iâd prefer sex over food – Kalki Koechlin

I’d prefer sex over food - Kalki Koechlin

Kalki Koechlin is so sorted she can give you a complex. Her resolve perhaps stems from her very dramatic life. From alleged child abuse, to being discriminated as a foreigner in her own land, to a broken marriage, she has not only survived it all but has emerged unscathed and unscratched. Her smile is angelic and warm. There is no demon lurking in her bright eyes. She doesn’t bemoan the past, nor is she overtly eager for the future. All she’s interested in is today, in this exact moment, in the breath now… She’s got the mojo and she knows it. She is candid and earnest at the same time, not letting a hint of malice hunt her emotions as she flawlessly articulates her thoughts. Presenting the choicest rejoinders from an interesting tete-a-tete…

Tell us something about your childhood…

I was born in a small fishing village in Pondicherry and grew up learning to fish. I went to a boarding school, the Hebron School in Ooty, at the age of six till I was 18. It was an international school. So we had many activities like drama festivals, trekking and outdoor stuff. That’s how I got into theatre.

Who was your favourite actor or actress then?

Julia Roberts! Watching her movies was my favourite pastime, especially Pretty Woman.

What do you consider as the turning point in your life?

Dev D. Before that I was doing theatre and commercials and had no idea that I’d be a Hindi film actor one day.

Does your family watch your films?

They watch all my movies. They’re secretly proud of me but on my face they tell me I need to work hard and be focussed. When  I recently got the news that I had won the National Award (for Margarita With A Straw), I called up my mother. Shortly after that I started getting calls from everyone in my hometown. Mom had told everyone about it!

To your credit, you’ve broken the stereotype of a Hindi heroine with your atypical looks…

(Laughs) Are you trying to say I’m ugly? People are beautiful or attractive in many ways. The more we accept different-looking people, the more beauty we will find in our industry.

Being of French origin, what were the challenges you faced?

What doesn’t work for me is the fact that I can’t dance to save my life! And, since I look so firang I can never play a desi village girl. I’m asked why I’m so fair. But that’s in my genes. In fact, I’m always trying to get a tan. I purposely go swimming in the sun. People think I don’t have Indian values. Arre yeh toh baharwali hai they say. But on the other hand, as an actor, I’ve a certain edge. Clearly, something is working for me because I’m still here.

Dev D, Shaitan, The Girl In Yellow Boots, Margarita… Do you have a fascination for dark scripts?

No, it’s what comes my way. I’ve been just as fascinated to do a Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. But I get fewer scripts like that.

So what’s your mantra for success?

It’s about luck and meeting the right people. But later, it’s all about professionalism and hardwork. Your dedication and talent is all that works.

Balancing both theatre and movies… how do you find time for yourself?

I don’t. I don’t have holidays. I don’t get adequate sleep. I guess, I over commit. But now is the time when I have the energy to learn new things and enjoy them. A producer once said that as an actor I had only five years left and I laughed it off. But it’s true .

What makes you so vocal about social causes?

No one person can bring about change. Everyone needs to contribute. Then it creates a domino effect. But I’ve always maintained I’m also human and I make mistakes. Don’t take me too seriously.

Do you agree that relationships are fragile in the industry?

Relationships are fragile everywhere. It just gets highlighted in showbiz. I know many people in other walks of life struggling with their relationships. A relationship is like an egg, which you need to carry carefully. It needs constant attention.

Does media scrutiny make maintaining relationships all the more difficult?

It depends from person to person. Personally, I’ve learnt to ignore rumours surrounding me and focus on my work instead.

What’s your current equation with ex-husband/ director Anurag Kashyap?

If we’re working together I’ll be happy to comment about our professional relationship. But there’s no need to keep talking about our equation anymore. I’ve been making statements on this since the last two years. The best thing now would be not to say anything.

Iulia Vantur to leave India?

Iulia Vantur to leave India?

Iulia Vantur, who is rumoured to be Salman Khan’s girlfriend is now facing visa issues. Her tourist visa is to expire very soon following which she will have to return to Romania. However, Salman Khan is trying his best to extend her visa as he had for Katrina Kaif earlier.

Sources say, “Iulia will have to return to her home country to get it renewed. He and his manager are also trying to get it done for Iulia who has already travelled to Romania twice earlier because of this. They are talking to Embassy officials. If Iulia gets her visa extended she can stay on longer in India.”

Looking good always is not important for meâ says Kareena Kapoor Khan

Looking good always is not important for me,” says Kareena Kapoor Khan

Kareena Kapoor Khan, who is known to be a diva, believes that she is an actor and her job is to act and not look pretty 24/7. She also stated that she would love to be judged for her acting skills and is not a doll that she always looks like a fashion diva, even when she steps out of her bed.

“Looking good always is not important for me. I am as normal as anyone out there. Sometimes I even get out with my slippers on, which everybody around me gets annoyed by. I can’t be like in hair and make-up always. It is all about an Instagram picture now days. During Karisma’s time it was more about hardwork, the talent and a lot of other things. But now the younger lot at times focuses more on looking good rather than polishing themselves as an actor. Things should not work like this,” she said.

Bebo believes that it’s because of the emergence of media and digital age that the cameras are always waiting to always click you. “There are so many blogs and websites, everybody is giving their comments and verdicts. That in a way forces actors to pay more attention to the ‘looking good’ part. Cinema is not only about fashion, it is about acting, working on the role. Fashion is just a small part of it,” she adds.
